I am considering a 700R4 but am wondering what mods needed to console, shifter etc. I know crossmember and drive shaft mods needed. Anyone able to enlighten me on the feasability of this project. Also if anyone has experience with Alan Greise in Texas (Trans. Builder) let me know your experience.

Re: swapping a 700R4 into 80 Vette (yppoh)
I had mine done by a local shop, but you should be able to do it at home with the Bow Tie Overdrives kit too.
Yeah, the cross memeber needs some work, and there is a shorter driveshaft too.
You can use the current vacuum switch to lock up the torque convertor as the 350C transmission that you have now. You just need to change the plug on the tranny side. I am working on getting my vacuum switch to work now, as the switch was bad on my car.
You only have to change out the shifter set up if you want to. Mine is adjusted so that I have all 4 gears and I have no problems with the shifter.
It was one of the best improvements you can make for your car. Before I changed my rear end gears it would cruse at 70 - 75 mph at around 2000 RPM. I stepped up to 3.73's ( a little tooooooo tall for highway use) and I am around 3000 RPM's now. But what a launch at the line !
