Swap : LS engine in C3 questions
Has anybody done a "full" LS swap in a C3? I'd like to know where you got the parts & whether you did a trans swap also. I am torn between doing a 383 or 406 for my 72, but reasonably certain that I'm installing a 700R4 trans in the car with the current SBC engine after my builder gets the final price on the trans. The "wrinkle" to that is if I do an LS swap then I'll most likely go with a 4L60E in stead of a 700R4. The car is currently all stock with a NOM, and if I buy the headers that I planned, and torque converter for the TH400, I may as well consider the same parts for an LS swap. I think the price of an LS swap verses buying all the engine parts for a 383 or 406 (need to add a block to this cost also), and the cost of buying a converter for the 700R4 or 4L60E, while being different, may equal out overall. This is my reasoning of doing either engine/trans swap, which is why I'd like input from those that have already done it, and the problems they may have seen.

Some have done this swap for about 1500 and the sky is the limit. I have done this to mine with A T56 from an 06 GTO. There are a lot of little things that nobody talks about or need to be done. It is becoming more of a bolt in as more pieces are becoming available for the swap. It will be easier and cheaper to stay with a Gen1 SB but nothing like the power and torque of the LS motors. As I have always said plan on double the money and time you think it will be and you will be close.
