Default Time for new mufflers.

Have decided to go with Borla 3" inlet/outlet, however, which type to choose.

Should i go for the straight through design, or the chambered ?

I would think the straight through will flow better, also is available in a shorter case which will be easier to fit in the stock location.

Car is modded running a 434 13.5:1 sb and NOS Big Shot system, rarely street driven, but as it is street driven, i must run mufflers.

Thanks for any advise.

The Borla's will definitely make the power....but a 13.5 motor isn't going to be quietened much by them. That's going to be wicked!!

I'm using Pypes Race Flow mufflers on mine. 3.5" all the way out the back. They didn't hurt power even at 1140 RWHP. Noise is a lot less than Borla's.

I have had this combo for years.

Just trying to make it more "street friendly".

You say Pypes Race Flow ARE quieter than the Borlas, but WHICH model ??

Have you ever used a Borla ? ; If so, which model ?

Here's an interesting way to quiet one down- Albeit a C2- just replace your spare tire with a row of mufflers-on fellow forum member "632C2" ride-

Beautiful work-

I've got The Race Pro's. It's a straight through design in an oval case. From what I've heard..it seems the Street Pro's aren't really much quieter and sometimes louder..but that depends on a lot of things.

I've got a good friend with an 800 HP 548 in a '67 coupe. He's running Borla's round/straight through ones under his sidepipe covers with a set of custom headers feeding them. They hang a little below the covers but not too noticeable. I can definitely say they are much louder than my Race Pro's even when mine was N/A and making 871 HP on motor. Now of course I've got exhaust out the back and he's got sidepipes...but either way the muffler is at the end of the line.

The Race Pro's get loud at WOT....but to me the Borla's are louder. great mufflers, but just not the sound I prefer. I can ride around and carry on a normal tone conversation with mine.

Again, your compression and I'm assuming a cam to match is going to be a tough one to tame down. What size pipes are you using? All the way out the back?

Yep...there's Steve's setup. Serious stuff! I've heard it....it was still pretty rowdy when he had the 632" in it.

3" duals, NO crossover pipe.

Depending who you listen to, namely, Wallace racing calculations, they don't do ANYTHING for HP.

In my humble opinion, that is as good a performance reference site as you can get.

I have tried sidepipes in the past, not a fan !!

Present cam is NOT really streetable, 106 degree lobe separation is a bitch!!

Only trying to quieten this thing up when i do go on the street, a little.
