Plastic Lens Polish
Recently kinda by mistake, I found out that Rain-X is a great polish or wax for plastic lens.
I always use Rain-X on my windshield, espesially on my Patrol Car. Well, I had my Trusty washing the car and told him to put a new coat of Rain-X on the windshield. I told him while you are at it go ahead and put some on my light bar. My car has just miled out and this was on my old '96 CV with a 6 year old light bar with plastic lens all over it. They had become "milky" and sort of fogged up looking. The Rain-X cleared it up and dang near made it look new.
Today I found out that one of the new NOS Marker lights on my El Camino was for an '80 and not a '78 so it wouldn't fit. Now I can't use the NOS on one side and the old one on the other because it wouldn't match at all.
So I cleaned up the old lens with some Finesse machine compound and then washed them and put on a real good coat of Rain-X.
Try it on an old lens and see what you think. Oh yeah I put it on all of the new NOS lens I had, so the new side markers and tail lights got a good coat too. Man they shine for sure! JIM :yesnod:

Re: Plastic Lens Polish (82dukman)
I agree on all of the abrasives mentioned. They all will clean and or polish the plastic lens, but the RAIN-X is actually a wax that will enhance and maintain that shine the same as wax on paint.
I wonder how well it would work on interior plastics with a grain? Might even replace Armour-All, I think that it actually attracts dust to it. JIM :seeya
