Default 1976 unknown switch in engine compartment

odd dead end item hanging under master cylinder and washer reservoir area. Looks split open, had two tabs to insert into base, but one has been bent away to not connect. Maybe brake related? Where does the threaded end go?

That looks like part of the factory alarm system. You didn't say what year your car is but I would guess 74 and up
