I want to add a mirror to my vette. It apparently only had the one on the drivers side. How do I mount the new mirror. Is there a plate to go on the inside for support? I can't imagine just drilling into the fiberglass and mounting the exterior plate.
Re: Adding a passenger side mirror to a '69 (MIKES69)
By a mirror and all the hardware and template for drilling the holes should come with it, it did for me. Got mine from Mid-American since they had a 2 for $99 deal, replaced em both.
Re: Adding a passenger side mirror to a '69 (MIKES69)
The passenger side mirror attatches to the car with the same well-nuts used for mounting the luggage racks. You have to drill holes. it's really nothing with the instructions and template that come with it. :chevy
BTW, dual mirrors (the sport/bullet style) were not a factory option until 1977. It's my understanding that, prior to that, the chrome passenger mirror was a dealer installed option.
I think it's more likely than not that most cars were delivered to the customer with a single mirror. I think that's considered the classic look by some (probably me included). But, I like symmetry, and chose to go with the dual mirror look.
Finally, I think there are two sizes for the rectangular chrome mirrors, large & small head. Make sure you match up the correct size.
