I've just finished pulling mine out of my '69. I have both the Assm Manual and a '71 factory manual. There's 3 adjustments in the opening/closing levers, a max opening height on the J bar that's attached to the cover, the pivot points can be adjusted up and down, and back and forth a bit, the clevis rod (on the actuator canister), and finally the whole housing can be shifted a bit in the body. All these are there to get the cover to center in the body openings, and have the correct height (even with the rest of the body. I'm still researching them all, but as I tried to temperarily reinstall I found I couldn't close the covers either. All these adjustments have to be "right" to get the doors to close. I'm planning on trying and re-trying in order to figure out what to do, but I thought you'd like to know about all the adjustments. I'm thinking the factory set these up before they were installed in the body, and the body was off the frame so it all was alot easier.
Hope some of this helps. Post how you're doing, I'd be interested in what you find out.
Oh yes, I forgot the pivot shafts have sleeves that allow the cover to slide back and forth (side to side) These have to be set also to get the covers where they need to be.
