Default Catalytic Converter question

This might be a dumb one.........is back pressure reduced if I pull the knock-out plug on my converter and drain out the "stuff" or is this just for the chemistry part. I saw a section in the 79 manual about replacing the stuff so that gave me the idea. (Chambered exhaust eventually) My car runs strong so I don't think the converter has any problems. Just curious.

Thanks in advance!

Best option, lose the cat entirely. Second best option, replace your stock pellet style with one of the higher flowing honey comb styles. Random Tech makes great cats should you need one in your area.

I just dropped my rear Y pipe and sucked out all of the stuff. Looks correct for inspections too :D
