Default 82 won't move in gear

Hey I need some help with this one. Just got done bleeding my brakes in the vette. Was gonna test it up the road. And when I put it in any gear it just feels like it's on neutral. And when I give it gas just revs. I made sure the shifter is moving the linkage and it is. What else should I look at?

did you check the transmission fluid level?
you looked at the linkage on the transmission case and it moves with the shifter?
do you have reverse?

Yes fluid is good. And yes I looked at the shifter linkage on the side when someone shifted it for me and it moves as it should. I don't have no gears. I can't even feel anything engage. It just goes into whatever gear I put it in without any feel of it catching.

Check the pivot bolt that the linkage is a attatched to that goes into the transmission. If that nut comes loose then the linkage will still move but will not rotate the rod that goes into the transmission.
The rod will have a flat on it to position the linkage correctly and a nut to hold the linkage in place.

you posted a picture of a flex plate. the flex plate bolts to the crankshaft and torque converter, so which bolts are you talking about and why would all of them neatly fall out without you hearing anything?

3/8"-24 bolts and nuts. Grade 8, not typical big box store types.
Here is some listed on Jegs

How the heck did they come out and leave so quietly?

I have never driven the car. I bought it as a project. So never knew they was missing. Will I need the nuts too? Or just bolts? Since it's a 700r4

700r4 should use 10mm 1.5 thread bolts.

It takes 3 bolts. there will likely be 6 bolt holes in the flexplate, however it is two sets of 3 , one set will be the right bolt circle and the other set won't line up with the converter holes.

Usually the torque converter holes are threaded, so no nuts.
