Default A/C Door Vacuum Actuator

Hello,
There is no air coming out of my dash vents. Thanks to some other posts on the forum, I was able to determine that it was the likely problem.

Does anyone know what the quickest procedure is for getting to the actuator? According my assembly drawings (which are pretty vague) the actuator looks like it is really buried deep in the dash.

Thanks in advance for your help.

pretty much remove center console, and dash pads to get to the A/C actuators.
but before you do all that, i would open console and get to the control switch first.
manually apply vacuum to each port, to check actuator function.
you might just have a bad switch.

Where exactly should I apply the vacuum to test the a/c actuator? I have a vacuum pump. Would I apply vacuum to the tan line somehow? or do I try to unplug the line from the switch? I' guessing I would apply it to the line itself since that is what moves the actuator?
-Thanks.

use the vacuum Outlet chart to understand which actuator should function when.
pull the rubber socket off the switch, apply vacuum to the specific hose in the socket to test the actuator of your choice.

If you want to just test the actuator, apply vacuum to the appropriate hose in the chart, if you want to test the switch function apply vacuum to the nipple marked "control source vacuum"

Willcox... Wow, I forgot I made that chart... I'm getting too old.

Ok. When I applied vacuum to the actuator, the door moves and the air blows out of the dash face vents. So, I assumed it was the vacuum switch/controls, and replaced them. Unfortunately, it still won't blow air out of the vents with just the vacuum from the car. Only with the vacuum pump attached.

Any other ideas?

Those switches, even new ones are not so good at sealing. Did you take apart the switch and grease the rubber pieces w/ dielectric or high vacuum grease?

I recently redid mine and after never having air through the top vents...actually do. I posted on it about a month or so ago w/ pics attached to the post.

did you check vacuum input level going into switch ?
if you have other leaks your system will be low vacuum and not function.
