There as several timer boards out there- but this piece is the best way to do it. I used it for the headlights and the power windows. You can program it to "stay on" for up to 15 minutes after you turn the ignition off.
Another way- is you can use a pair of relays- and make them latch when you turn the ignition off- and stay on till you open the door. Use to do this for stereos back in the day.
Thanks Richard, I didn't expect anything that specific. Just need to work out if I just take a always hot supply from somewhere or see if I can change the power window supply to be always hot. Shouldn't be too hard once I look into it.
That's why I'd caution against just running them hot all the time
The power windows are protected by a 30A circuit breaker- not as likely to start a fire- but does open up some possibilities.
Richard
The always hot supply would just be to power the timer. I have no intention of leaving the windows hot all the time. Aside from the safety issue, to me it would also be a security issue.
Had a quick look. If I can get my hands on one of the fuse panel plugs for the rear window defogger (mine doesn't have this option) then I can just plug straight in.
