Default One or two inlets on air cleaner

I have a 77 L82 I know it's a L82 because I just rebuilt the engine and all the numbers match,I have noticed that some air cleaners on L82s have one inlet and some have two.The fresh air duct on the rad. support matches the cleaner with only one duct, so why do some have one and others have two?I looked at a bunch of L82 pics on the web and a lot of L82s have only one.

77 l48 and l82 both had one intake duct. Beginning in 78, the l82 had 2 inlets.

Starting in 78 the L-82 only had 2 cold air inlets, base L-48 had the 1 inlet. The cold air system with 2 inlets is certainly worth a few ponies (I believe I saw somewhere GM claimed 5 HP).

An unmolested '77 L82 engine bay, just for reference.

It's a LITTLE bit molested.... The distributor covers were plastic, not chrome. I'm not sure if that's a replacement aluminum MC, a painted one, or just a brand spanking new one, but WOW. I have no hope of my engine bay looking that clean anytime soon.

I want one of those chrome covers. I have the other mounts in place already and should bolt on hopefully. Were HEI distributors stock?

The MC is original, just cleaned up and painted Eastwood Brake Gray.
All L82s, at least in '77, came with the chrome distributor cover. The L48s were black plastic.
