'72, change ignition switch?

Also, since I will have the column apart, would it be a good idea to change the turn signal switch also, or woudl i be best to leave the OEM switch? The turn signals are not giving me any problems.
On the Ign switch, I am getting intermittent , nothing happens, when i turn the switch over to start, no solenoid click, more like trying to starta cr with no battery in it. 1 second later on a retry, the starter works fine. Or maybe sometimes I have to turn the key over to start the times before it fires up Note there is NO solenoid click, no noise at all, when the no start situation occurs, so i am thinking the Ign switch is starting to go.
I suppose it could be a solenoid starting to go, or maybe a wiring connection at the solenoid, but probably not most likely. If the Ign switch was dash mounted, i would just change it as it is real easy to those, but i ahve never changed a column lock switch before.
Any thoughts or comments welcome.
THanks,
Doug
If the connections are good, then the next step would probably be the ignition switch. You can change the switch fairly easily by removing the lower dash panel under the column, pulling the A/C duct. You can then reach up to remove the switch. Its two small screws and two large plugs.
I changed one recently and did not have to drop the column. However, you can unbolt the column from the dash support and loosen the bolts to the firewall and the column will drop down a few inches to give you more room.
