Default Intake manifold vs hood clearance

Has anyone replaced their stock manifold with a Edlebrock Performer or RPM intake on a base '69-'72 350 without hood clearance issues?

Will an Air Gap fit?

Have a performer with a 14X3 cleaner (lowered base) on a '72. I have ~1/2" under the hood. Think that means the RPM would be a problem.
P.S. I'm using the stock Q-jet too.

Performer RPM or Performer RMP Air Gap will fit with 1 1/4 drop base with 2 1/4 inch air filter (my setup) or 2 inch drop base with 3 inch filter... However - the airflow to the primaries would be very restricted... Therefore I would recommend to have the choke tower of the carb removed to increase airflow to the primaries or switch to a racing carb (most racing carbs don't have choke towers...). I have a Holley 80528 (Racing 750 Double Pumper) with no choke tower...

Olivier

Have Weiand ActionPlus pn 8004 w/ QJet & factory 2-snorkel 1971 air cleaner under factory hood of 1971 L-48 ... no problem. The Edelbrock Performer pn 2101 is very similar to Weiand pn 8004 in both height, fit & performance parameters. The W 8004 may be a tiny bit better than the E 2101 ... and about $10 cheaper.
