PrarieShark - it was surprisingly easy to take apart, gave it a good cleaning, a little sanding, some primer and then hi-temp red, came out nice. If you want to polish it talk to Brutus, he's a polishing freak! Sand it down smooth and start with the polish, you could make it look like chrome.
Aaron-74 - thanks! But it's not perfect, I had the motor out for 4+ months so I went at it with a chisel getting all the bonding material a little smoother, then did a bit of sanding. Painted the whole engine compartment even the wiper area...what a pain but it came out nice.
Hey Scott, sorry I couldn't make it today. How'd you run?
Sean, I thought you fell off the planet or got abducted by aliens :D My first run was my best so far, R/T .591 at 13.883, not sleeping at the lights anymore. But I still have shifting issues, really have to get that new shifter in and the tranny adjusted. Made 3 runs total, the second was ok and the third SUCKED...got knocked out by a freakin' C4...you hear me golfboy? :jester It was still a fun day and I didn't have to get towed home so that's good, too hot out there though, BLAZING HOT!

Did you make at least one run with open pipes???? I guarantee you that you will take at least .2 to .3 off your ET with open pipes...
Olivier
P.S. I wasn't able to get the car ready for the event... That's why I didn't go... I'm pretty sure that I will be ready for the next race...

Olivier- no, left the baffles in, too freakin hot out there to be doing anything more than sitting. I'll probably keep going to the events but until I get my shifting issues worked out I don't think I'll be running...plus I can't afford to break anything.
Bob- that's looking rather dull for your standards, you better polish it up a bit :jester

Maybe the weather will be a little cooler at the next Corvette Challenge... It shouldn't take more than 15 - 20 minutes to get the pipes off... Before you drive back home - you can put them back on... I hope that you will find a solution for the shifting problems.. When I had my 69' (sold) I shifted manually through the gears.. The transmission would shift way too early...

Scott...That's an old pic. I've since redone the alternator housing when I put the upgrade kit in it. Just wait and see what happens when I take the engine out for it's rebuild next year. You can see it in person when you get over here that's if you stop spending all your money on racing fuel. :jester
Look nice Bob. I've seen the results of Bob's polishing on Scott's car. Looks wonderful. Of course he get so much practice (if oyu know what I mean)....

Damn that's harsh, but payback's come when you least expect them :jester
As for the vegemite, I'm putting out some fake babies for Holloween and using it to simulate baby poop, actually I don't know that it would be a simulation really
