my son's 76 was caught in a flood, we dried it out, got the water out of the engine. It cranks fine but no spark. The hei distributer is clean and dry. Where is the fuse panel for this thing and how can a normal person get to it?. any help and tips would be appreciated.
I think that you can get at it better if the dash on the driver side is out. It's not that big of a job, if you take your time. I think that you would need to blow out all connections inside & out & shoot a coating of W/D 40 on all of it. Lots of luck. Gene
No panels, you are just going to have to lean in under the steering wheel and dash to access it. Doing some of the under dash work on these old cars practically requires a contortionist.

Take your head off and install it backwards.
Seriously, check for 12v at the BAT terminal on the HEI. If that's good, disconnect the TACH wire from the cap and try it. If that works, you have a tach/tach filter problem. Still no start, hook a 12v terst light between the tach terminal and a good ground. Crank the engine. If the light flashes, the module and pickup coil are good. No flash, it's time to dig. Either the module died or a broken wire to the pickup. Or both.
I did pull the cap coil rotor and inspect them and test with an ohmmeter as best I could, I did however, find corrosion on one lead of the ignition module to the star like thind (whatever you call it) that I beleive is tjhe problem. when it stops raining I'll clean it up and try it
