Home tire alignment tools
What is the best sub $500 alignment tool for doing your own home camber, caster, and toe
#2
You can get some toe plates for around $60 bucks. Buy a Wixey Type 1 angle guage directly from Wixey for around $40. The ones you see on ebay and such are usually Type 2. Make a straight edge for the wheel from some 1/2 square steel tube for Lowes. You can buy the fancy thing from Longacre that does the same thing.

I'm kinda slow so I went with the Longacre tools. I got it as close as I thought I could. Not too sure about the front. I added Global West upper control arms. Then I took her to my favorite alignment shop to have her fine tuned . He said my numbers were extremely close. Very pleased with the tools although very pricey.

I got the Longacre for a Xmas gift this past year. I have taken measurements but have yet to do any adjustments. I also bought their their toe plate kit. That works fine as far as I can tell. It's very quick to set up as opposed to laying out strings, setting up lasers, etc. Thus far, I'm very happy with all of it. I also made up my own plates from plexiglass for caster adjustment which I think will work fine based on only one measurement with the Longacre apparatus.
I got these tools based on my experience with three alignments last summer - two on my 2013 CTS-V coupe and my vette. Not happy with any of the results. Inside tire wear on CTS-V. Still getting wear. My vette wasn't aligned the way I asked using my alignment specs from Vette Brakes. So, *** it. Got the kit from Longacre. It will pay for itself having more than one vehicle and will be accurate enough. I don't need toe measurements accurate to within a 1/100" or caster/camber +/- 1/100* like an alignment shop can provide. That's overkill.

Yes...I've got the Pro with the added slip plates. I had to add some extensions to clear my fenders during caster ck's with my wheela, but no biggee.
