When trrying to remove the face panel of the instrument cluster, I noticed some of the hex screws are stripped. How can I go about getting this off? If I go to have a shop put my new CD player in will they be able to get it off?
I've faced a similar problem, in that my trim panel screw holes were either stripped or broken. I ended up using some "Plumbers Goop" (silicone adhesive) to fix the situation. This actually worked well.
Now, knowing I had this problem, I considered taking it to a stereo shop to have some other stuff addressed. But I don't want any of those amateurs messing with my car. If they break something, they'll most likely not accept liability for it. And you may not find out until it's too late.
I wouldn't be surprised if they made you sign a liability waiver before even touching the car.
Do the work yourself. Worse comes to worse, buy a new trim plate.
