I just purchased a 1972 LS5 with a four speed. It's been in storage since 1981. I managed to get it running again but it's leaking (gushing) coolant from between the engine and transmission. I'm certain it's a freeze plug.
I've read the threads about changing the clutch on this car to get an idea of how difficult this fix would be. It seems changing the clutch is more difficult than other clutches I have done in the past. I'm wondering if pulling the engine might actually be easier.
I'm also planning on replacing the radiator as well.

I would pull it since your pulling the radiator. the ease of doing repairs out of the vehicle has its merits. How old is the clutch, you could replace that while your in there. Be careful though, it could turn into while i have it out I'll replace the pan gasket, then onto the main bearings since I see them, well if I have that apart........ then it turns into a 383. So set some limits for yourself
