I have been poking around in my new 1979 and noticed that the tank with a cap that reads "Notice: Engine Coolant Only" was bone dry empty. I am completely new to cars and can't seem to find a straight answer to what kind of coolant I should buy and how to add it.
I know this is a stupidly simple question, but if anyone could tell me what coolant my '79 needs, and if I can just pour it into the Engine Coolant Only tank, that would be much appreciated
If the car is cool, may want to take off the radiator cap and check the level on the radiator itself. Make sure its full there first and then add some to the overflow tank up to the full line.

i just checked the radiator. It is full. So, should I fill the tank up? What is the full line? I see HOT and COLD
Thanks guys, just want to be sure. Ever since I changed a fuse and all my electrical stuff stopped working I have been overly cautious of adding anything to my car ^_^'
Your engine probably has the old school "green" antifreeze in it. If I am just topping off I would get the full strength and not the premixed 50/50. I have found over the years the mix is always weak.
