Default Engine ID PLEASE

I just acquired a 1973 Corvette with a NON numbers matching engine and cannot figure out what is truly is. The codes are as follows:
15J204032 F 819 CTU. I am pretty sure it is NOT a Corvette engine with a "J", but I would like to know what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I'm going to disagree with Mike here a little bit, not that it makes any difference with the engine itself.

I do believe it's a 400, but I think it is out of a full size Chevrolet, not a Chevelle or Monte Carlo. My info shows that CTU could be a 400 4bbl in either a GM A-body (Chevelle, etc) or B-body (full size).

The "J" in the VIN indicates the car was assembled at GM's Janesville WI assembly plant, and I don't think Janesville ever built A-body's. Up to the early 80's, Janesville built full size Chevrolets. Later they built GM sub-compacts (Cavalier's, etc), and then GM pick ups and full size SUV's.

in 1970 CTU was the 370 HP 350 corvette engine so maybe the seller might have been trying to fool someone into buying the car. typo corrected

I could only wish it was a 350/370! The seller had NO clue to what was in it. No games on his side. I knew with a "J" in it, it was not an LT1. Darn it!
Thanks gang for all the help.
