Default AC Compressor issue

Hi everyone thanks for all your advice troubleshooting issues we have almost everytime they were right on and helped me get my car back together. Yet I have another issue, when I turn my key to on the clutch engages and won't disengage unless I turn the key off or unplug the clutch at the compressor. I have a new compressor, condensor, drier, all new hoses, new poa value etc. I even put new controls inside the cabin and replaced the blower motor relay that use to run my fan on high all the time even when the key was off another fix you guys helped me with any ideas from the Corvette genius' out there I have a 1969 Corvette with a 427 390 HP.

This thread belongs in the C3 Tech section and I am moving it there. For future reference, the Intros section is just for that initial posting after joining the forum to introduce yourself.

Some one give this guy a break and let him get a reply without moving him. I think he is in the right place.

The compressor switch on the heater control has a tiny spring that keeps it open when it's not engaged... is it possible you knocked this tiny spring out of position? The drive lever operated by the thumb wheel pushes this switch to engage it, but if the spring is missing it'll just stay closed all the time. Post back.

The tan wire runs from the pictured switch below and goes to the compressor from the switch, it turns dark green once it leaves the thermo switch in the a/c housing.

Thank you for the response as a matter of fact I did knock off the spring when I was changing the controls but I did put the spring back, I can pull the 2 prong wire off on each side of the controller and the compressor disengages. I am thinking maybe it is a wiring issue, horn relay issue or the cable being out of adjustment on the controller?

It could be, but check the switch to make sure it's working properly. Any slight bend in that spring or the contacts will cause it to malfunction.

Default How do I move this to C3 tech

Hi everyone

I just got the car back together after 10 months I will pull out the switch and check the springs just wanted to break in the car and find out what else is wrong. When I shut off the car I can hear air releasing from the dash and when everything is together the wiper door opens and won't retract the headlights came up slow but when I capped the wiper door actuator the headlights come up and down fast, I need a genius because I'm not

Thank you in advance for the advice awesome forum

There are some good threads and information on here, so hopefully I can point in the right direction. Having just put the car back together sounds like some troubleshooting is in your future. You'll need to verify condition of the hoses and connections point to point. Then you can move onto components, switches actuators. Here is a thread that had some information from Willcox Corvette. He post a lot of great troubleshooting information on the forum.
