Default 74 door panel removel

Any suggestions on how to slide that clip removal tool under the ****. Is the clip always in the same postion. Should I slide it in from the top, bottom, left or right side???? How hard do you push. Does the clip just pop off?

I assume you are talking about the lock ****. With the raised part of the **** running horizontally, the clip will come out from the right or the left. There is no way of telling which way it was put in. Typically the clip removal tool is too wide to get behind this know. I assume this is why you are asking the question. If that is the case, I can help you. Take a shop rag or some other type of cloth. Take the edge of it and slide it behind the **** from the right or left. Kind of bring the ends together behind the **** and pull it back and forth. If nothing happens, do it from the other side of the ****.

I just reread that and it is kind of confusing so here goes again. We'll assume that the clip opening is toward the FRONT of the door.

Take the edge of a shop rag and from the door hinge side, slide it behind the ****. Then pull the ends toward the latch side of the door. This will allow the rag to wrap half way around the shank of the ****. Then pull the ends of the rag back and forth keeping tension on it. What will happen is that the rag will catch on the ends of the clip and pull it out.

Hope this helps.

Neat idea... I always use a small screwdriver and carefully poke it out.

I have a spare shim from my trailing arm rebuild - works perfectly to push off this clip.

You can buy a set of dental type picks at Sears Hardware or most auto parts stores...they usually include a 90 degree angle tool and a hook tool. Either is great for pulling the clip from the handle, lock or window crank. I do it all the time....and they're cheap!

from your post, you already have the clip removal tool. What l do is slide the clip removal tool in the area where the clip is. I then turn the window crank a couple of times until the clip pops out.
