Hi,
I have a 1973 coupe and can not get my head lights to work properly I changed all the vacuum lines the filter and the splitter that attach right off of the intake.
If I take the hose from the vacuum canister and attach to either one if the tubes on the actuator the head lights open and close
Can anyone help?
So without a little more detail regarding what the headlights are doing, it's difficult to diagnose. Traditionally, the vacuum relays go bad. There are two of them, one for each headlight, and they are located on the headlight header bar. Their main function is to apply vacuum to one sode or the other of the headlight actuator. They get their signal from the headlight switch. That's a good place to start.

What you are doing is bypassing the relays, so it sounds like you have either a relay issue or a switch issue.
