Default Need help identifying engine and correct starter!!

I have an 81 Corvette that I purchased a long time ago. All of the work was done by the previous owner and was given little to no information on what all he did. It has an aftermarket engine that he called "ZZ4 Crate Motor". No idea if that's correct or not. The starter went out 2 years ago and we had to make an emergency repair if you will. Had it towed to the closest mechanic to fix to bring home that same day. Well it now has gone bad and need help finding the correct sized starter for the engine that I have. I have pictures of everything and can provide more if needed. Thanks in advance!

The bolts on that starter are straight across instead of staggered, so you have a 153 tooth flywheel or flexplate. Any starter for a chevy small block 153 tooth flywheel will work. Check out Summit Racing.

I'm going to go out on a Limb and say that You might have something else wrong what makes You think its the starter ? The Napa on in the picture was made only 2 years ago and the gear reduction ones generally last a long time. Who did the cutting on the Dust Shield ? Dose the Car have Exhaust close to the Starter ?

Also the ground cable at the top of the first pic appears to be damaged.

I am not familiar with this setup/engine so I just assumed starter. Theres honestly probably many things wrong with this car, tis why it spends most of the year in storage. According to my wife it was making a loud metal on metal sound when it last started. I took a closer up picture of the flywheel and you can see the fresh markings on and see the metal shavings all around it that something happened that probably shouldn't have. I don't have a concept of what everything should look like, but I am technical and mechanically inclined. If you guys don't mind taking a look at the new pics and see if you can tell more. Also, how does one test the starter to see if it's bad? Thanks again!
