Just looked at my latest Jegs catalogue and I was surprised to see on the front cover a McLeod 5-speed transmission for GM only at $2795.95. Max torque is 500 ft/lbs.
I know I have seen other threads saying the McLeod was working on one. Well, looks like it is finally here.
This transmission has been out for a couple of years now. Its torque rating, while not super low, keeps it from being a likely candidate in a big power car. However, it may be a conservative rating.
When I went overdrive, I considered this unit for a second. The price is attractive, and the size is right, but I can't help but wonder what it will be like to get parts for a rebuild on one, lets say in 15 years.
