Default When to replace relay rod in steering?

I am rebuilding my front suspension on my 69 manual steering. I want it to be as good as possible so I am having the box rebuilt by Gary. My question now concerns the relay rod. I am planning go replace the guts of it but what about the rod itself. Does the opening matter? Here is a pic of mine. Does the fact that it is worn affect the steering. Do I need to replace it?

No, look at the ball cups, if not scratched up then they are OK. T
