Default AFTERMARKET ALARM PROBLEMS

i went this morning and got a new alarm put in to replace the original Facotory alarm.

everything went great till i got home and decided to test it, armed the car and then unlocked the doors through an open window. when i opened the door nothing happened.

anyway. my interior curtesy lights wont go off. i double checked both door switches, the ones that tell the car if the door is closed and they are both working fine. i checked most of the fuses, most importantly would be the curtesy and security fuses. both working fine.

maybe they just hooked it up wrong. im going back to the place again tomomorow so they can give it another shot.

has anyone heard of anything like this happening. those of you with alarms put in afterwards, did you have any problems?

i went ahead and removed the curtesy lights, the bulbs on both passenger and drivers floor and the center top light between the T-tops.
i dont know what the problem could be.

You were better off with fixing the factory alarm in almost all cases. Ask anybody who does electrical work in the automotive industry. Factory alarms have wiring diagrams readily available, aftermarket does not. A very important fact if you think about it ten years down the road and you start having electrical gremlins. An ignition kill switch with the factory alarm should be plenty to stop anybody that isn't really determined to steal your car. If they are really determined there isn't really anyway your going to stop them.
