Came back from corvette club meeting and eats. (driving my 93 Camaro Z28, sorry, vette in garage)
The classic ricer, white, blacked out windows, big wing, neon lights, tall skinny tires, and baloney pipes (not one but two) on a Honda Civic and off course a too loud stereo.
Well, traveling down Kingston Pike (a sometimes busy road) I and this ricer are going back and forth thru the traffic (dodging slo-pokes in left lane).
Then the Ricer cuts me off as I want to slide to left lane since my subdivision is coming up on the left. At the light, he reving whatever he's got? (ricer). I am behind him (ricer) at the light, to left is 90's?? Light Blue Buick Roadmaster. I figure when the ricer jumps the Roadmaster, I will also jump the Roadmaster (and make my left turn home in the turning lane).
Wrong, the Roadmaster stomps the gas does not chirp the tires and leave the ricer in the dust. End of story. It was sweet watching a biig Buick Roadmaster shutdown ricer!
Yea, it's a little known fact that the big roadmasters of the mid 90's had the police LT-1's. Same as the Impala SS. They are really quick,,I know I got an SS. It's even more fun smoking mustangs than ricers. You know their just as cocky.
Last week I was with my brother in his 1-ton, when a ricer pulled up beside him and started revving his weedeater. You should have seen the look on his face when that big monster pulled away from him. Guess he wasn't counting on a Vortec 454 sitting under the hood :D
Watch those 3800s with the Superchargers. They are very fast! Rated at 240hp. Much more than my L-82. And those older fellows who drive Buicks do get it on from time-to-time.
Hey, I'm not old! :mad Of course, I don't have a supercharger, either...
Watch out, though, because once I have some spare cash (next spring when the Vette's done) I plan on doing some "work" on the ol' Riviera. :reddevil Supercharger? Polished intake? Ported heads? Headers and dual exhuast? ............. all of the above? :reddevil
Watch out Mustangs, here comes a sleeper that will blow your doors off! My friends have called it a drug dealer's car, a black man's car, and a pimp's car. But never an old man's car... Hm.
I had a similar experience with my Dad (who's now 60, but used to race at Atco in NJ). He just bought an '02 Caddy Deville DTS w/ the NorthStar. Burned a kid in a suped Integra V-Tec BAD! USA!!!
Dad's other car is a '68 442 W-30 Vert frame-off restored show car. God I love my Dad! :)
Cool..ive smoked ricers in both my 2001 Toyota Minivan..and my fullsize K5 4x4 Blazer. The Blazer will jump quick from the hole with its 355 SB and 700R4/3.73 ratio. Its pretty fast up to 60mph or so. Then the wind drag begins to hold it back. It will manage mid 16's in the 1/4. Not bad for a 3 ton vehicle with a small block. Gotta watch some of those ricers though. A kid on my mail route has a raggy lookin civic with an acura engine. He's got the car down to 1700lbs. He showed me time slips of 13.1 in the 1/4. He says hes got a bottle in the basement. With spray he expects to get into the 12's. A slower vette is still way cooler than a faster ricer anyday I told him. He knows its true.
