One electronic box of some kind is located in front of the battery and another is located in the storage well behind passenger seat. What are these? Also my battery has an extra cable coming off the pos attached to a bolt coming near the wheel well. What is tahat all about?  +2 Terry :seeya
Ok the big silver on in front of the battery is the ECM( it is on my '82). The wire coming off the junction block by the battery with a fuse in it, is to keep constant power to the ECM via diagnostic plug. On mine in the passenger side compartment, there is a silver "controller relay" near the door side. This is for the delay wipers.
Of course this is for my 82

apparently not much difference between the '81 and '82. as said above, ECM is located infront of the battery. the isolated terminal mounted inside the box is a (+) power source for much of the interior. on the other side is the wiper relay and power antenna relay. lovely place for this stuff, huh?

Wait until you have to replace the fuel pump relay :mad
82dukman, i think the fuel pump relay in my '81 has a million mile warranty from chevrolet. they said if my fuel pump relay ever goes bad for as long as the car is in one peice, they'll replace it for free. this warranty is transferable for the life of the car or general motors itself! how cool is that! :jester :hat :p:
