Re: Favorite badass black C3? (gdh)
Nice and shiny is great but if frame is rusty the or pooched together, all the cosmetics in the world won't keep you or your riders safe. Lets see some underneath pics as well to vote on the total package. :yesnod:

THe point is self explanatory, that vettes are very easy to make looking good, but a great vette is a complete pkg. cosmetic as well as structural.

It's flattering to see my car again on a topic like this. And to be compared with those incredible Vettes.
Sorry GDH, the frame is in good shape. But not original.... whole weld, strengthen and galvanized. The only thing is that the engine is out, for a rebuild to the next season.

In reply to gdh and the underside. Mine may not be a show stopper but the undercarriage is just as spotless as the top side and inside. Ain't got no swirlies in that 3 year old black paint either. You guys in the polls. Great looking cars. You all should be proud. :seeya

I put up the option to vote for "Viper Killer." I used to live in Danville, CA and a buddy of mine sent his '68 Chevelle to "Top of the Hill Motorsports" in Livermore, CA. I saw this car there in person and it was a beauty! I will never forget seeing those valve covers in person. I have pictures of the car as it sat in "Kassabian Motors" for sale in Dublin, CA. If anyone wants to post them for me, I'll send you the files. I went to the Kassabian website one day and found pictures of the car I was drooling over. I'm unsure as to who owned/owns the car, but MY is it awesome looking.

Mike if this were aimed at you, I wouldn't have voted for your ride, or in the past suggested that fellow members take a look at yours. Again to me bad butt is a complete package like I used to see the B.A. muscle cars in the 60's, frightening looking from all angles including underneath and suspension mods to boot. You are too young to remember the "bubble" now called raised hoods that used to be put on Nova's and Chevelles with their either 396 or 454 engines and raise rears to show off the undercarriage. Those cars were also notorious for having there frames bend and warp from the weight and torque of those motors. So instead of Im'g others you could have simply asked me personally, as you can tell from looking at my vette, cosmetics is not that important to me and dats da fact jack.

Isn't it amazing, black was the least popular color in '69 (in fact it was dropped from '70 to '76). Yet almost everyone, including me, goes gaga when they see one.

I have to go with Steve's Merlin. I've seen and heard it and it's awesome! Now if he can keep from spinning the wheels out of the tires.......
