You know the Bat-Mobile was made after the C3 vette, so every single C3 looks like "the bat-mobile"
Er ... no it wasn't. A quick Google search shows that (1) the TV show premiered in 1966, a couple of years before C3, and (2) the Batmobile was made from a 1955 Lincoln Futura base car, not a C3 or any of the C3 concept cars.

Are you talking about something like this?
Nice try. No, I wasn't talking about the 1960's Mako concept cars that preceded C3. I was talking about today's attempts to recreate something that the C3 Corvette designers rightly concluded should be left in clay on the shelf.

:jester

Just kidding. David, we're not going to agree on this because I'm one of those guys who likes C3s just the way they are and, from a quick look at your website, you're one of those guys who likes elaborate body mods. I'm sure we both enjoy our respective cars just as much. It's just a matter of individual taste.

Hey! I want a recount. Coming from the great state of Flori-DUH, I am sure there is a hanging chad here somewhere!

No really, I am just happy that the car is actually in once piece again. It is interesting that the others here were posted along side of my 69 (AKA Killer) as they have all been a big part in the planning and execution of my project.

These other cars have served as inspiration for me along the way. Steve and I communicated often during the early planning phase of my car. In fact, I have been in contact with everybody there at one time or another seeking fresh ideas, or sharing some of my experience and technical blunders.

I am glad you guys enjoy the car.

Sorry, I don't have any larger picture of the car. I took those photos in the "standard" mode on my camera so they don't blow up much better. Vette magazine did a shoot on the car over the labor day weekend. It will be interesting to see how those pictures come out when they hit the magazine (date unknown). Rob at the Corvette Action Center created a awesome desk top calendar for October using a shot of the back of the car. You can really see the back tires in that shot and get a feel for just how much more meat the flares let you put on the ground. The resolution of that photo is good enough to blow it up large with no problems. Of course, I have made that my desk top calendar and it fits great on my 19" screen.

You can grab a link to that in his download section.

Thanks again!

i had gotten your car confused with lasse recently. i was trying to ask, was it hard to install the chrome hoops behind the seats? also did you get paid big bucks for the layout? i'd also like to know all the mods that's been made to your car if you care to list them.

Bob Wallace from VETTE introduced himself to me at Sharkfest over the Labor Day weekend. I had no idea who he was when he walked up to me, although I had read his articles for years. It has been my dream to have a magazine worthy car, and it looks like that is going to happen. They waited until sunset and shot the car behind the NCM. They wanted to do some action shots on the road but ran out of time. They don't pay anything for the shoot and made me sign a waiver to prove it :smash:

Bob and his son Rob work as a team covering the country doing Vette related stuff. How cool is that?

I created the roll bars using a simple paint program on my computer over pics of the car when I had first put the rear clip together. I took my idea to Jimmy Britts at http://www.jimmybritts.com . I traded the bowtie heads I had laying around for the work. He does GREAT work, and fast. The bars are not NHRA or SCCA legal, but they at least provide support for the seat belts, and some extra degree of saftey in a roll over (plus they look cool). They are powder coated silver with a powder coated clear coat on top.

I have done more mods on the car than you can see just looking at it.
The best part is, I can say with great pride that my wife and I did 98% of the work ourselfs. The only things we did not do is the top install, seat cover install, physical spraying of the top coat of paint, the bending of the roll bars, and the alignment work.

here you go:

*VB&P full performance plus suspension
*SS brake lines, braided SS lines, O ring calipers, all new hardware
*Converted to power steering (steeroids were not on the market yet)
*off set rear trailing arms
*We shaved the firewall, and I custom installed a vintage air super cooler compact Gen II unit under the dash out of sight (like a street rod)-freezing cold too!
*Ultra lite pro comp series electric gauges
*Keyless entry w/ power door lock install
*Power window conversion
*C4 lighted rear view mirror
*tilt telle column
*Custom installed DELAY WIPERS (frenched into stock location)
*Electric actuated wiper door assembly (no more sucky vacuum problems)
*500 Watt RF amp, twin MTX 10" subs in custom enclosure (infinity surround)
*Sony Xplode head unit
*sprayed truck bed liner (Euro grade) in the entire floor board of the car
*topped off the convertible hatch in the bed liner material for looks and funciton
*Electric Headlight actuators (look for that soon as I am brokering a deal with the Major aftermarket retailer to make these available to all)
*454 .060 over with complete Edelbrock RPM package (aluminum heads, RPM cam, Speed Pro pistons, Crane Gold series rockers - copied the 539 hp test motor
*Edelbrock PRO FlO EFI on the Air Gap manifold -K&N Extreme lid filter
*Dewitt 11" cooling fans and shroud
*Griffin aluminum radiator
*March Performance Pulley (dual serpentine)
*Power brake conversion
*Painless 18 circuit late model compete wire harness
*1995 C4 seats
*Powder coated/reworked stock convertible top frame
*Intro Penita 18x9.5 front 18x12 rear rims
*Power antenna
*aftermarked washer pump assembly

That on top of the usual new chrome, rubber, brackets, etc. etc. etc.

And considering this is what it looked like when I started, I can't complain!

Hey Chris - long time no speak! Your car really turned out great. I think it's pretty neat that not only did we trade notes the past couple of years, but we finished right around the same time. You should take great pride in the fact that you did most of the work. I wish I had more time - I would have done more work on my car. Some of it I would never have attempted - like the engine, but it's really nice to see the work you have done. You should be very proud of your accomplishments! I hope to see you at the Cruise In. I'll take you for a ride & show you why I would be too afraid to do the work on my car

Steve, You are exactly right. What most folks here don't realize is the two of us have been working and planning on these machines for some time now and sharing thoughts and ideas behind the scenes. I first heard of you through the mini forum bulletin board at Vette Brakes and Products. In fact, that was the first Corvette related "forum" type environment I had ever participated in. I posted a thread about supercharger questions. My orginal plans for the car called for simple 17" torque thrust rims (9" wide), stock body, L88 hood, and a superchared/blown small block. You saw my thread and pointed me to your project as well as some great info from Whipple. I ordered their material and started pouring over all the options I had to surpercharge/blow my 69. Then about the same extact time we launched our frame off suspension work. It has been so great to have somebody else going through the same stuff. You were a great help on rim sizes and options, as well as other small things here and there along the way.

You probably remember when I emailed you my first concepts for my roll bar, then you shot back telling me how you were building the same kind of thing (but much more substantial than mine). It is like we had the same vision at the same time.

Here is the really wild part. We fired our engines for the first time within DAYS of each other. I feel like the cars are kindred spirits somewhere along the way. Yours is the ultimate modern ego machine, and mine is the more classic (chrome) cruiser.

Some day my friend, we will have the opportunity to park them side by side. Can't wait to thunder the windows out of the other cars as we roar passed the crowd. It will happen, I am sure of it!

The ULTIMATE would be to put together a "wicked black shark" display whenever we do get to meet up. All of the super hot black Sharks in one spot! Schweeeeeeeet!

'79ProwlerOrange - Not yet. I've been holding off on doing any marketing until it is done.

Chris - That would be amazing to have all our killer black Vettes together roaring down the street. They have a black Vette squadron out here on the left coast. I'm planning on driving this thing out your way for the Cruise In, so if you can make it there, it would be great to get some Video of the black beasts together!
