Don't know if anyone cares, but I have found a source for the hard to find interior lamp lenses for a 68 coupe. Each 68 requires two lenses, one on each side at shoulder height on the pillars.
These are repros, but I was not aware anyone made them and have been looking for years. Call 1-800-909-vett and ask for Ed. I am not affiliated, have no interest etc. just trying to pass along some good information to save someone else the trouble.
Ahhhhhhhhhh, one of the Holy Grails of Corvette Parts gets reproduced-kinda hard to believe for a one year part, but definetly great news.
ps Kurt, saw a very odd early(24xxVIN) '68 350hp/4spd roadster with A/C, 6000 redline on tach?, barrel shroud, not plastic fiberglass one typical to A/C cars. Was'nt sure what to make of it-numbers were right on the motor too("HT").

Barrel shroud? Are you refering to the radiator shroud? Mine is metal.
also 6000 redline and A/C. I also know a guy that did a 68 NCRS deal and his stuff is the same as mine.
Also do you know the price for the lenses?
Paul,
Do you remember if the car you saw had power brakes or not?
The reason I ask is that my car has the "HP" suffix and back about a year ago when I did all the research and heard from the NCRS engine judge (Al Grenning?) there was a lot of discussion on the "HT" vs "HP" suffix and the concensus seemed to be that an L79 with A/C was "HT" but if it had A/C AND power brakes (don't ask me why) the code is "HP"
Mine is L79, 4 speed, A/C , Power steering, power brakes, engine code "HP"
Just curious,
Kurt
Do you know if these guys have any other '68 specific stuff?? I filed the number away for future reference. Good to know another source of hard to find '68 parts.
Thanks.
Yes, I called this fellow Ed, and he specializes in 68-82 parts and he tells me he has been in business for over 20 years. I thought he said he used to work for GM and has very close ties with Corvette Museum and NCRS. Sounds like he has been around for a while and knows the C 3 models very well.
I like your color, Code 976 LeMans Blue as that is the color of my 68 coupe and what started this whole restoration thing for me 6 years ago. My car had been painted by the previous owner prior to my purchasing it in 72 and I wanted it back to LeMans blue. One thing led to another and a simple attempt to get back to blue ended up in a complete restoration project.
Gentlemen,
I received the lenses today when I arrived home from work.
The appearance and fit is like factory original and the correct color with the chrome edge.
One of the few times I have seen a really good repro part.
I think the price was fair considering supply and demand and the fact that they are one year only parts.
Usual disclaimer: I have no financial interest and never purchased from this vendor before. Saw them on e-bay and I think there is another set on there now but not certain.
I'm happy.

Kurt, no I do not remember about the power brakes-I think it did, just not absolutely sure. Remember too, my '68 DOES NOT have A/C, has power brakes, and is an "HT" 350HP/327.
Kurt, does your A/C '68 have the 6,000rpm tach??? What about YOUR shroud??? Barrel or plastic/fiberglass type???
