Default New oil pan

I took the oil pan off my new to me 1981 C3 (original pan and engine). It's got a massive dent and the threads are crossed. I think it's leaking from both (dent has a tiny hole) so I need a new pan. Summit Racing in GA is only an hour away so I'm considering driving there to pick one up. I notice massive differences in prices. The summit pan is $40 and the chevy pan is $143. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I changed my 81 pan. Cheapo is Chinese POS, and will not seal. Get a Milodon with a good Fellpro one piece seal. Bulletproof.

Any reason to change the oil pump? It had great oil pressure when I drove it home.

Nope. Milodon makes a pan that uses the stock pick up. Right hand dip stick.
They have a diamond windage tray that fits it perfect as well. Jamb that in there if you want to help with oil control.

Ages ago I had an oil pan puncture on freeway. I removed the oil pan and had it brazed. I'm gathering that you could get it straightened-out and do something like that. The cross-threading can also be repaired. Whatever you do - don't discard it if you do get a new one... until you verify you have one that fits.

Unless it is absolutely mangled I would repair it.

Nowadays I'd braze it myself but I didn't have my oxy-acetalyne kit back then.
