I am currently trying to replace the rear window trim clips on my 1982 (not CE). Please note the picture. I received clips on the right with a built in mounting post that were "supposed" to be the correct ones. The post in the middle of the picture is the where the original clips mounted. The war torn item on the left is one of the original clips. Do I have the right clips? Am I supposed to remove the old posts (if so how)? I would assume I need to seal around the new post/clip? Any input/help is appreciated.
Can't help much but I've read that the glass has to be removed to replace the clips. I assume that the window holds them in place. Don't know if this is correct.
If you're careful, you can get the trim pieces off without breaking any clips. Just don't apply too much pressure with the removal tool (like I did). After 20 - 30 years, they become brittle.
As you can see the trim clips I purchased have an integrated post. The original set up has the post buried into the body and the clip is separate item. Any clue as to where to get the separate clips with a hole in them? The posts seem to be in good shape. I thought I might change the clips as I figured 20 year old plastic is getting pretty near the worthless stage.
Yep get that window outta there! those look like the right clips to me. we had my rear window out for a while to edge it. its nice not having to worry about breaking those things. i think we broke all but one.
