I just brought my '81 out of storage for 7 years, and can't figure out this problem with the turn signals! They flash weakly on the side that I select, but also the other side dims and flashes alternatively to the chosen side. When I put on the brake lights, the signals won't flash at all. Same thing when the headlights are on. All bulbs work, and I have tried changing the flasher unit twice, to a heavy duty one, and an LED one. Help! Thinking some sort of grounding problem, but where? Thank you all for any suggestions.
Check the forward lamp extensions... corrosion will in the connectors will usually cause this issue. If you go to the front parking lamp, follow the wires to the inner fender you'll find a connection... Pull this apart, clean it and then give it ago... You'll probably solve your issue there.
