Maybe a schrader valve or 2, orifice tube and the pressure switch.
Most everything else is pretty durable.
Flush and R-12, oil. I'll say $600 if you do the work.
Convert to 134A properly, more $$, with new hoses and condenser.
Creeping up to $1000.
I just went thru this BTW. R-12 cools better, and is cost effective, IMHO.
I'm in this same boat here about to do this. These cost #'s look right where I've been looking at. Torn between medical bills, tires, exhaust, and a/c. I've lived without a/c since I've owned the car. Tires are at least 12+ years old, prob. will be the winner, and exhaust looks ugly and just needs to go (rest of car has been interior redone/exterior repainted). If my kids would stop breaking things, and deductibles are horrible..the medical bills would stop (almost hit my OOP max of 13k for the year though...ugh Could have bought another car).
Once you have it, take the car to any automotive AC shop and let them check the system. It will save a lot of second guessing on what you may or may not need. The shop can also give you an estimate for R12 repairs and\or a swap to R134a.
