Yesterday, for the first time, I noticed that the rear driver side wheel sits inside the fender at least a full inch further than the passenger side wheel:rolleyes: At first I thought one of the wheels must really be out of alignment. I did some rough estimates using the body as the guide and it looks as though the whole wheel is 'pushed' in. Tomorrow I'll try to get some measurements using the frame. Could the body be shifted a little bit????
Not uncommon at all. Most C3s I see have a slight crab, usually to the left for some reason. If your strut rods aren't bent by Bubba the alignment wizard then the body is probably just shifted.
i actually had all of the bolts that keep the strut bars mounted fall off once. (a-holes who rebuilt me rear end must have decided it would save time not to tighten them.) any way when i turned the wheel from side to side, it felt like the car was on ice. i had a friend get out and watch me do it and he saud the tires were going in and out of the body. i was freaked. i checked it out, put some bolts in and problem fixed.
New struts were installed two summers ago and then it was re-aligned.
The car tracks straight and doesn't wobble. I just thought is was strange that the wheels did not line up under the body the same on each side...
