1974 engine noise
Listened to an engine noise on a friends SB 4 speed. Everyone is telling him it's a rod knock, but I'm not convinced. Can't tell where it's coming from, but I think it's too tinny for a rod and there isn't a change in the noise when the plug wires are pulled one at a time. Had the v- covers off and didn't see any thing unsual. Looking for suggestions :crazy:

I forgot to mention this car has only 23,000 on it. My friend told me he had flooded it while starting it cold, he then started the engine and it had the noise.

Found the engine noise tonight, number seven rod is bent, the noise was the piston hitting the crankshaft counterweights. It must have hydraulicked with gas.
