under a 76 hood

i have seen some topics about hood insulation...........
well my 76 has no insulation, never has, there are no holes or glue marks.(original hood)
the earlier vettes had hood insulation but had a big wopping hole in them for the air cleaner,,,,,,,,76 started a different induction system.......now this is where i get confused,,,,,,,,,,,i have seen 76s with nice formed insulation and no hole (for air cleaner) in the middle,,,,,,,,, i cant find hood insulation in the option chart for a 76......and i cant find anywhere to buy it.

where can i find it and if i do find some, would the holes be the same as say a,,,, 74 or so????

My 76 definitely DOES have insulation. Nice, yellow/tan crap. And it is indented with the imprint of the oem :yesnod: air cleaner assembly. Dunno what's going on with yours :confused:

Got mine 5-6 yrs ago from Penn-Ohio Corvettes. dont have their phone no. anymore or their web address either....Sorry. Just plug in their name on your search beacon and maybe you can connect with them...... :cheers:

I got the hood insulation for my 76 at VetteWorld. You'll want to get the big washers that hold the insulation in place; might need the pins which mount on the hood too. http://www.corvettedept.com

Whether or not my hood is original, I have pins attached to the hood that the insulation attaches to with large round washers. The Insulation is custom fit for the hood. There is no hole for the air cleaner. With the Edelbrock intake manifold and the Holley 4011 carb I use I have to use a old air cleaner cover for driving and then put the Edelbrock air cleaner cover on for show. I purchased the insulation from Mid America.
