Was looking at a local CL ad when I noticed the oddball T50 5-speed. Can't believe it is holding up as even the Monza V8 version was only good for 200 ft lbs.
Otherwise seems like a nice driver and with hardtop.
Is the T50 the transmission that makes the 1-2 shift like a normal transmission would make the 2-3 shift?
Yes, hence the name "dog leg". Reverse is up to the left.
This pattern is an old school road racing pattern as you only use 1st to get out of the pits. 2-5 are what you use for fast shifting on course. Reverse is out of the way so do not accidentally select it. Many European cars back in the day used this pattern.
If I wanted this pattern I would adapt an old BMW/Mercedes Getrag instead of a T50. The T50 is very weak and no replacement parts exist. The only way I could see a T50 surviving in a C3 is if you got the weight down to 2900 lbs and had a mild short stroke 250 hp engine (ie 283/302/307) .

I saw that ad- being listed in Atlanta but car is in North Carolina. Too many red flags- sounds as though they put whatever was laying around the shop to piecemeal it back together. Looks good in the pictures BUT "needs" some work on the inside (no pics) and "trailing arm bushing has some slop in it."
