Default Headlights Problem

HiYa,
I just bought a 1977 Corvette and for some reason the headlights won't flip up,but they are on. I quickly read through some of the post about vacuum leaks or actuator(think that's the way it spelled)seals/o-rings. Also read something about a override by the headlights them selves. Any advice would be helpful. Thankx..

Try asking in the C3 section, here or in the general

Welcome to the Forum!
As dahogan pointed out, you'll probably find great insight in the C3 section.
Good luck and hopefully the fix is inexpensive.

Welcome to the forum!

There is an override switch should be mounted just left of the steering column and below the lower dash ! If you pull out and they go up you still have a problem with your lites !

The override is so that you can turn off your lites and they stay up to allow you to change out a bad lite ! What you are going to need to do is to get a tool called a mitivac ( Harbor Freight is where I got mine) then go to Corvette 101.com , it will show you the whole system and how to diagnose each part in a step by step progression!

Welcome to the 77 family and good luck!

Default or...

If the car hasnt been started in a long time the actuators could be stuck...pop the hood, start the car, turn lights on and stick your hand down between hood and front clip and push them up, then turn lights off and push them down...see if they start to work then....do you hear a hissing sound or vacuum leak anywhere???
