My radiator gave up the ghost yesterday - I knew this day was coming. :( Am now planning the job of replacement and possible modifications. My support is rusted so might as well do that and was considering aluminum radiator options or maybe a stock radiator with electric fan? Any reason to go this route? My car runs great and doesn't overheat but figure I would explore the option while I have the opportunity to upgrade to more modern stuff.
Thanks in advance.
No opinion on the radiator. Left my setup stock. I did put in a Stewart Stage II water pump, that made quite a difference in temp. Also, cleaning and all the other things like hoses, belts etc.. kept me busy. Also changed the fuel pump while it was easier to get to. I Sure did want to take advantage of the clearance and do a cam swap or something. But another time I guess. Front suspension this fall.
Cheers from Sac.

Oh damn !!!- water pump, I knew there was something to add to the list. Thanks for reminding me. Looking at that humongous shroud, I don't want to go in there again for a while.

If you don't mind going "non-stock" and you have the $$$, you could convert to an aluminum radiator with electric fans. Aluminum is lighter, cools better (OK, not better per sq/in than Cu, but overall), no more fan clutch (less HP drain on the engine), and no more fan shroud (everything is easier to get to and a cleaner look.
If I wasn't so tight with $$$, that's what I'd do. :yesnod:
Oh, you're going to do a system flush while you're at it right (get as much gunk out of the block as possible before you put your new rad in)?
i had the original rad recored with extra fins. had the waterpump rebuilt. cleaned and painted brackets and pulleys while they were out. installed new hoses. ive had no problems at all
