Default Another ebrake snafu

Last week my '76 got all new rear hub bearings/seals/etc and while they did that, I had new ebrake shoes put on too. The original ones were past zero and the cable had been adjusted up as far as it would go by the previous owner.

The E-brake worked right up til yesterday - when I pulled it I felt something pop or thunk left rear and now it won't hold at all. DARN IT!
:smash:

It is a major pain in the butt to get my car to the Vette shop - they work the same hours as me.

Looking for suggestions/things to look for?

You might want to take a quick look under there and make sure that neither cable broke loose.

There's one cable that goes from one side to the other connecting both brake actuators; that may have come loose at one side or the other.

There's also a front cable (attached to your e-brake handle) that connects to the center of the rear cable; that may have detached there.

If the cables look good, maybe one of the two piece actuator levers came apart. That't wouldn't be too bad except for the possibility of the pin and retaining clip rattling around in there and possibly getting tangled up in something.

Good Luck. I hope it's something simple.

Also check where the brake cable hooks on behind the rear wheel. (You will know if this is the problem when you look at the cable as suggested by Jerry. The cable has a ball on the end and hooks into a thingy and may have slipped out if it wasn't hooked on fully originally. They are a pain to hook in there.
