Production gear box ratio is 16:1. If you have 3.4 turns lock to lock with your production gear, you will have 2.55 turns with the fat ratio 12:1 gear. I don't have any experience with the Flaming River gear.

Can't for the life of me imagine why bother, when a rack is so much more desirable....
I had an '87 vette, sold and got my '72 , rebuilt everything new, tight as hell, nice driving....put wide wheels and tires on it for the increased performance, noticed immediately that is tended to strongly follow all the truck ruts in the highways....especially here in sandy bottom Florida....
so anyway, I did my own rack install, some months ago, and noticed immediately the increased steering response and lack of 'road following'...

so just changing the steering ratio on an antequated system dont make good sense...ratio change along with rack is necessary to get true modern high performance from a C3.....

and for the life of me, now I know full well this is subjective, but I have driven other C4's since mine...this rack conversion is well worth the money..time and effort....but needs good modern rubber as well, for sure...
