Default Radiator trouble

I get the bubba award for this weekend...was trying to open the radiator drain plug and it was on kinda tight, so in the process I twisted the fitting and put a crack in the bottom of the radiator. :cry

2 questions: 1. Is it a big project to remove the radiator ? (i.e. hood needs
to come off ?) 2. Can the radiator be soldered in that spot ??? Has anyone done this ?

I just pulled mine this morning. My car is a small block with the big one-piece shroud but I was able to do it with the hood on (a BB may be different) and without help; but a helper would be uh...helpful. There are lots of archived posts on the subject or let me know if you are having trouble as it is VERY fresh in my mind. The best advice I can give is think it out and go slow.

If its accesible it should be able to be repaired without the radiator coming out.:):

If you do have to take the radiator out its finicky and will take a couple of hours depending on how much else you want to take out for a tidy up. Use a helper and yes you do have to take the hood off.:smash:

If you do decided to take the radiator out get it rodded where they take the tanks off and run rods down the cooling channels. My vette SB 77 runs nice n cool after this.
