Power window motor not working

Power window motor not working
I need help with replacing the drivers side power window motor on my 1978. The window is stuck in the down position, and I know that I need to raise it about half way in order to be able to put a bolt in the regulator and remove the three motor bolts. Are there any suggestions on how I can get the window raised half way?

Give it a jolt from another power source, I've had it happen on another of my old cars, 50 plus years of that motor stopping in the same spot and all those years of dirt and grime. I actually went so far as taking the motor apart and cleaning it and now 12 years later it is the best functioning window motor on my T Bird. As far as the spring tension releasing, Im fairly certain as long as you DONT remove the glass it will keep the tension on the spring.

Thanks, I applied power with my power probe, and it would not budge.

Disconnect the glass and pull it out. Once out you'll have a lot more room to work.

Remove the 3 long bolts that hold the field case to the regulator then remove the case and start turning the armature.
