Hey all, I just recently got an 01 2 wheel drive Silverado HD donor truck to use for my LS swap on my 78 Corvette. The truck has the 6.0 backed by a 4L80e. My car currently has a 700R4 and 383 stroker combo. The car was originally a 4 speed car, and has a fixed crossmember. My question about the trans is, is the 4L80e the same size as a 700R4? I've read that they are, but I don't know for sure. Also, where are those of you with LS motors getting your harness, and were you able to make it talk to your stock gauges? Finally, how can I modify my stock AC system to work with this motor? Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to give.

This swap is in my future also. I'm reading that the 4L80E is bigger than the 700R4 but will fit without tunnel mods. Your cross member will need to be modified.

But a 6l80e will fit so a 4l80e certainly will. You may be better off getting a 1980-82 cross member that is removable. Modifying the mounting plate and getting a adjustable trans mount.
