I have an intermittent rotational noise coming from one of the front wheels. I replaced wheel bearings, no change. I cannot find any rub points on the brake rotors or caliper. Noise only starts after 30 or 40 miles and comes and goes. Brake application does not change it. I am baffled, any ideas???

Try removing the center caps and beauty rings and see if that stops the noise.

Thanks...
I'll try that when the rains left up for a while, but the noise sounds to me more like a large piece of metal on metal grinding. It doesn't continue for a full wheel revolution, just part of the turn. I haven't been able to trigger it, unfortunately. It is kind of random and I haven't been able to correlate it with anything. It comes and goes away during the drive.
I had a similar noise as you describe, thought it was the brakes..tire tread was separating from casing on the inside where it was unnoticeable. Tires looked excellent but over 10 years old. Sorry. .was typing when you posted. .I didn't have the metallic sound.

Reason: Correct
Take a close look at front accessories on engine. Sometimes power steering pump or A/C or A.I.R. pump can make noises that can fool you. Also water pump or fan clutch.
I wonder if the dust shield is moving when the front end gets warmed up, or is loose or something is getting wedged between it and the rotor....
that makes sense. The sound is definitely metal on metal, only occurs when moving and is dependent on speed. Braking makes no difference. I had the wheels off when replacing bearings but didn't see anything. Heat must be a factor. I'll look into that for sure.....
