The problem is that they aren't listed for Vettes. I have heard that you have to use a spacer of some sort to get them to work
Does anyone have more info on this? Has anyone done it that can lend some info?
I have a stock setup and will be upgrading the suspension soon, I would like to put some better tires than can be found for the 15" stock rims.
Here is a link to the American racing website with the torque thrust D wheels. I suppose that a 16x8 is what I would be looking at. What kind of bolt size circle should I be looking for? Also what about back spacing and all that jazz?
The stock rallies are 15 x 8 with 4" bs (0 offset) ?
So would a 16x8 with a 4.5" BS (.5 offset) work on a C3?
I might give em a call for prices on the 17" rims and see if they know what dimensions I need. I just really want to avoid getting rims that won't fit. Plus I have never bought rims for any car. So , I am a super rookie !
If you like the look of the torq thrust D check out the http://www.vintagewheelworks.com they make a TTD in 16" that will bolt on and only requires a 1/8 inch spacer or slight grinding on the calipers. I bought them and love the classic look with the new high performance rubber.
I just bought a set of 15x7's. Got them today. I figure they will work, at least for the fronts. I am going to take measurements and see if the 8.5's will clear the back.
The CL205 and Vintage Wheels look really nice, plus can be custom made to fit ! thats great. A little bit more expensive at 247.50 (15") Or $304.00 (17").
These things are pretty expensive. Plus Tires. Plus my suspension upgrade. Hope it all works out in the end.
All in all, alot better price than buying a new car. Alot better. :yesnod:
